Step by Step guide to manually installing CyanogeMod 12.1 on YU Yuphoria.

Cyanogen Team has announced that its official Cyanogen OS 12.1 update is in its final stage of testing but if youre tired of waiting for its release then you can try CyanogenMod 12.1 from the CM community. A stable release of the of CM 12.1 for YU Yuphoria lettuce is now available.

This blog post will list steps to install CM 12.1 on your YU Yuphoria. In case you arent aware CyanogenMod is different from Cyanogen OS while the former is developed by community members Cyanogen OS is the official ROM from Cyanogen Team.

Requirements : Checklist before installing the Custom ROMs

• Make sure the device is rooted before going ahead with custom ROM installation.
• The new CyanogenMod CM12.1 [official] Android 5.1 Lollipop custom ROM - has to be installed on the YU Yuphoria aka lettuce model only.
• Users are advised to pay close attention to the CM release version and check whether the version of their third party installs (kernels, mods, gapps, etc) are compatible with the custom ROM.
• Installation of custom ROM requires clearing of memory in the smartphone, so make sure to back all the data by installing Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/ TWRP in the smartphone.
• Make sure to install USB driver in the PC, or else the smartphone (Yuphoria) will not be recognised by the computer.
• Make sure your device has more than 80% battery, or else there is a chance of the smartphone getting temporarily bricked if the installation process is interrupted midway.

Tutorial: Step-by-step procedure for installing CyanogenMod (official) CM12.1 Snapshot Android 5.1 Lollipop Custom ROM on YU Yuphoria (aka lettuce) model

Prerequisites

• Make sure you backup all of your device memory, as unlocking bootloader results in wiping your internal storage. So keep a backup of your apps , music, SMS, photos and other important data you might have on your phone.
• Install ADB and Fastboot.
• Install USB drivers on your PC from here. (file credit goes to the uploader)
• Charge your device with up to 60% of battery.

Steps to follow

Unlock Bootloader and Install TWRP

1. Enable Android Debugging on your phone: To do so you need to unlock Developer Options. Go into Settings > About Phone and tap Build number 7 times. You will see Developer Options are now visible in the settings app. Go into Developer options and check mark the Android Debugging option.
2. Enable Advanced Reboot: In the Developer options check mark the Advanced Reboot option.
3. Boot into Fastboot mode: Hold down Power button and choose Reboot > Bootloader. your phone will boot into Bootloader or the Fastboot mode.
4. Now connect our phone to your PC and open Minimal ADB and Fastboot. Type the following command to check your phone is properly connected to your PC.

   fastboot -i 0x2A96 oem devices

5. Now enter the following command to unlock your Bootloader.

   fastboot -i 0x2A96 oem unlock

6. Now download TWRP recovery from here and rename the file to ‘twrp.img’ and copy the img file to you Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (usually C:/ Program Files/ Minimal ADB and Fastboot).
7. Type the following command to install TWRP recovery.

   fastboot -i 0x2A96 flash recovery twrp.img

8. Now reboot your device by typing the following command/

   fastboot reboot

Root Yu Yuphoria

1. Download SuperSU zip file from here and copy it to a suitable location on  your phone.
2. Now hold down Power button and select Reboot>Recovery to boot into recently installed TWRP.
3. Once you are in recovery  mode, select Install zip and navigate to SuperSU file you copied, then swipe to confirm installation.
4. Reboot your phone and Enjoy your rooted device.
